The power of conscious, sustainable activism
What happened for you when you heard that President Biden was withdrawing from the 2024 election as a nominee? What happened in your body? How about your mind? What narratives did you make up along the way?
I had a surprising emotional roller coaster ride. I felt sad (I really liked Joe). I felt joyous (what??? Possibly a Black woman president???!). I felt out of my body, as I tried to digest what this new pathway could mean.
For those of us keeping a finger on the US national political pulse, it can be easy to be pulled into the adrenaline-fed, drama-filled news cycle. Reactive Brain’s insistence on ferreting out threat by drawing lines between good and evil, heroes and villains, can take us on a scary ride, with potential dangers lurking around every turn.
While I myself enjoy a good drama, my commitment to living Above the Line in Creative Brain means that I am building a larger context for myself, one where I prize connection, collaboration, and aliveness. Like the sugary Sweet Cow Dutch Chocolate cups (with chocolate sprinkles) I indulge in, I know these jolts of adrenaline aren’t actual nourishment.
With that in mind, I’ve been writing a little book. I thought it was going to be a support for us to move through the Biden/Trump election months, but I pivoted when I felt the new energy that Kamala Harris’ candidacy introduced. I would like to introduce you to On Evolutionary Power: A Path To Conscious, Sustainable Activism.
OEP is on the verge of being published. It will be a quick read, with steps that will require study and practice to embody. I plan to send it out to anyone who wants it, either in pdf form or the actual book. Then I’ll teach an 8 week class Wednesdays at 1pm MT (starting September 11), called “Support Your Conscious Activism.” I’m imagining that individuals will be able to form pods of their friends, family, and colleagues who desire to link arms during this fascinating time of new possibilities. This is all free to anyone who wants it; donations will go to EPI to fund costs of the book development, and cost of more books to send forth.
I feel excited to play with you all through these weeks leading up the the election, as we cocreate a different path together, one where our connection to Team Human means we are part of a huge shift in human consciousness.
